Dear John,
The summer of 2007 will go into the record books
for lack of rainfall and an
impressive string of hot August days near the
century mark in Lewis County Missouri.
With challenging weather conditions, some
animals in the U.S. Wellness program have
been relocated to greener pastures.
One group is now involved in a
research trial
hosted by the University of Missouri at the
HARC Center near New Franklin, Missouri that
has been blessed with large amounts
of rain during the growing season.
The trial will look at 3 different sets of
cool season forages to determine the
differences in CLA and omega 3 production by
different combinations of grasses and
legumes. Research now suggests that diets
high in red clover will stimulate increased
CLA and omega 3 levels. The first group of
test animals were harvested 2 weeks ago and
under going lab testing. The U.S. Wellness
animals will be harvested prior to Thanksgiving.
This will be a fun project as we continue to
sharpen our production skills. Lab results
will be posted as soon as they are
available.
U.S. Wellness has introduced a new grass-fed
beef
snack stick that we think you will truly
enjoy. The ingredients are beef, water, sea
salt, black pepper, red pepper, garlic and
coriander. The peppers are very difficult to
detect; consequently, we rate the sticks very
middle of the road.
Each package
contains 6 sticks averaging 1.4 ounces each.
Warmest regards,
John, Lee Ann, Lynn, and Megan on behalf
of the
farm families of U.S. Wellness Meats
