Monticello, Missouri
Dear John,
USWM Logo

Can you believe it is the last day of January?  Seems like another month has flown by, hopefully February brings some warmer weather!

US Wellness Meats is proud to now be serving burger at BRGR Restaurant in Manhattan.  This hip new restaurant features grass-fed beef only and tops burgers with unique ingredients such as gruyere, avocado, and sweet onion marmalade.  They are winning rave reviews for their burgers, milkshakes and atmosphere from many New York publications.  Visit their site for more information and be sure to stop in if you live nearby!

Don't forget to enter The Garden of Eating cookbook giveaway!  Drawing on the landmark work of Weston A. Price, D.D.S., and the time-tested food ways of healthy preagricultural people, The Garden of Eating is a comprehensive guide for obtaining the health-building benefits of a diet based on fresh vegetables and fruits along with pasture-fed animal products.  Visit our Blog for a sneak peak at some of the delicious recipes, then go HERE for your chance to win!

Pastureland butterIf you have not tried our organic, grass-fed butter yet, you are missing out.  Our butter comes from seven Southeast Minnesota farms, which are certified organic and certified sustainable.  But that's not the best part - one taste of the butter and you will be hooked.  Use it to top your favorite foods or to bake with.  Many of us have cut back on butter and dairy products, but organic, grass-fed butter is loaded with health benefits!  Plus, it is 100% grass-fed and no hormones or antibiotics are used in production.  Check out the feature farm photos below for a glimpse of the winter life of US Wellness seasonal butter producing dairy cows.

bbqbrisketsandwichStill needing something to take to the Superbowl party?  Our Blog has tons of delicious (and healthy!) ideas, plus special Superbowl recipes and photos.  Also, our new Wild Caught Shrimp, Organic Nuts, and BBQ Brisket sandwiches are all great choices too.  Now is the perfect time to try the BBQ Brisket as it is on sale this week!  See our feature recipe below for a cheesy chicken wing recipe that will surely be gone before halftime!

US Wellness Trivia Contest!
The first 30 responders who email the answer to the following trivia question will receive a 15% discount code via email on Monday morning, which is good for 30 days.  "On Super Bowl Sunday, how many calories are consumed by the average viewer?"  Please email your answers to blog@grasslandbeef.com.

Thanks to all who have been participating in our Trivia Contests!  In the last news alert, we asked: From 1990-1998 the incidence of diabetes in the U.S. increased by what percentage?  The answer was a whopping 33%!  Thank you to those who are helping spread the good word about nutrient-dense, grass-fed meat products and therefore helping prevent the spread of this deadly disease.

Best January Regards,

John, Lee Ann, Megan, Tressa, and Jennifer, on behalf of the farm families of U.S. Wellness Meats

EMAIL QUESTIONS TO: eathealthy@grasslandbeef.com

___________________________________________

Hi Dr. Serrano,

I am writing as a mom.... a mom who is quite sure I don't want to vaccinate my adult child who is getting ready to move to Africa for one year to work with an orphange in Uganda.

My question for you is:
What would you do if it were your daughter?  We have considered homeopathic vaccinations and are also planning to send mega nutrients: good oils, betaine hcl for stomach issues, colostrum of grass-fed cows, and superfoods (barley, alfalfa and wheat grass powders, kelp, chlorella and spirulina & spinach powders, beet root powder, cranberry and elderberry powders.)

Thank you for your help,

J.B.
San Diego, CA

Dear J.B.,

I want to apologize because you are not going to like my answer.  I practice the correct way but sometimes you need to make exceptions, and this is one exception.  Yes, I would if my daughter was going.

I would use the vaccine for hepatitis B, and use prophylactic for malaria and all the other shots required before going.  I would take cipro as an antibiotic of choice, pancreatic enzymes, and finally a good probiotic, including flora 20-14 from Innate Response, use code SER030 to order.

Thank you,

Dr. Serrano

Cheesy Chicken Wings!
Ingredients:wings
  • 1 lb. chicken wings
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 6 Tbsp. grated or finely shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp. chopped parsley
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
Directions:
  1. Cut tips from chicken wings and discard.  Cut wings in half at joint, making two pieces.
  2. Combine all dry ingredients, including cheese, in a small bowl and mix together.
  3. Place a piece of parchment paper on the bottom of a baking dish.  Place a wire rack on top of the paper.
  4. Dip each piece of chicken into the egg and then into the cheese mixture.  Put the chicken pieces on top of the rack in the dish.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes, until done.
  6. Easy clean-up: throw away the parchment paper!

Variation for Crispy Chicken Wings: omit parsley, oregano, and paprika.  Add 4 Tbsp. of Italian bread crumbs to the dry ingredients.  After dipping in egg and breading mixture, drizzle each wing with a small amount of melted butter.

What Our Customers Are Saying

US Wellness,
 Beef Jerky
We recenty drove cross country for several weeks and of course had some difficult times finding something healthy to eat.  We brought muesli, nuts, raisins and apples.

We don't eat that much since we are over 75-years-old, but we discovered when we ate your beef jerky we we able to drive forever since it gave us so much energy and it so delicious. So we'll order some more for our next adventure.

Thank You,
M.P.
