Hi Dr. Serrano,
First I appreciate your time. I have seen you refer many to Innate Response vitamins. I currently take a Multi from a company called Advanced Physician Products. (www.nutritiononline.com) I do not take the recommended dose - I take 1/2 to 1/3, simply because I have reduced vitamin intake in lieu of food. I felt maybe I needed a mulit and tried the Mens Multi Over 40 w/o Iron from Innate. Within a few days I couldn't sleep at night. It's hard to explain - but I just couldn't seem to drift off, I was just awake.
So I stopped taking them and things seem to have improved a bit. I thought it might be the Herbal portion of the Multi but I am unsure. I was looking for your input and if you think the Mulit III would be a better choice (no herbals). However it does contain iron and I usually stay away from iron supplements since I do eat a fair amount of meat. Also I originally took the Mens Over 40 Multi for the prostate support and such (I am confused as to whether I really need this).
Overall is food enough or is a Supplement needed?
Sorry for the length, hope you understand what I am trying to ask.
Regards, Marc ___________________________________________
Dear Marc,
Great questions, and I might be able to help. The Multi Over 40 not only has iron but also has two herbs that can actually cause insomnia, not as an stimulant but as anti-stress and causing the insomnia. It can also mean that you were low on certain nutrients and you are getting recharged and you were taking them to close to the evening. In addition you must make sure you were not going through a period of stress, conflict or diet change at the timing of the vitamin intake. I do recommend vitamins and other supplements because we don't eat perfect everyday, time, situations in need of extra nutrients, sources, etc, and the vitamins will be in case of insurance. I would change vitamins and try the one without herbs, the One daily will be okay of course. You also mentioned that you were taking them because of your prostate - symptoms? insurance? prevention?
You did ask great questions, and again to answer your questions: yes everybody should take a good multivitamin, a fat source and probiotics, for health and prevention.
Thank You,
Dr. Serrano

Grilled Chicken "Pizza"
Ingredients:
The chicken in this "pizza" is the "crust" and the tomato is the "sauce".
Directions: - Lay each piece of chicken between two pieces of plastic wrap and pound with a heavy skillet to flatten the chicken.
- Pre-heat the grill to medium-high. Marinate the chicken in the balsamic vinegar for five minutes. Sprinkle chicken on both sides with salt and pepper.
- Place chicken on the grill. When it's cooked half way through, flip the chicken.
- Before the chicken is completely cooked, add half the slices of tomato and half the basil to each piece of chicken.
- Top with cheese and close the lid so the cheese will melt.

What Our Customers Are Saying
|
Hi U.S. Wellness, I recently received my first order of your ground, grass-fed 75% lean beef. I was absolutely shocked at it's superior flavor! I've never tasted any ground beef as good as yours and I have purchased ground grass-fed beef from two local sources: Whole Foods and a local cattle farmer, although both of those sources were very low in fat. In fact, so low that I question it's health benefits. But yours was simply fantastic. I'm a new fan! I look forward to trying more of your amazing items. I also like that you offer sugar and gluten free items. Thank you, Meghan W. |
