Dear John,
After another hot muggy summer day, US Wellness would like to offer a shout out to the Taste of Maine Restaurant located on beautiful Route 1 in Woolwich, ME. The Taste of Maine has been a grass fed beef tallow customer for several years. Great ingredients, great family business, and great location creates the perfect storm in the food world. We also know the average high temperature on the coast of Maine is 20 degrees cooler than the Midwest. Please read the great article below on the value of exercise for stronger bone density. This is the reason you will find several tread desks in use at the US Wellness office. We always suggest good food goes along with good exercise. Start your day with high calorie pork bacon, pemmican bars, breakfast sliders, and your favorite egg recipes. End the day with lean flank steaks, sirloin tips, tri tip, lamb kabob, lamb steaks, rabbit striploins, and chicken tenders. Don't forget the organic produce in your journey to add longevity through diet and exercise. A Turkish surprise awaits in the recipe section below. The 'Kids Picks' category was a high click through hit in last week's newsletter. Suggest you click here to see what all the buzz is about. Interested in learning how grass meats are produced, how soil is created, and how grasslands are one of the best carbon storage reservoirs on the plants? We kindly invite you to the the 2015 Grassfed Exchange Conference which will be held in Mt. Pleasant, MI September 16 through September 18. Day 1 is dedicated to hands on tours with Day 2 and 3 complimented with an impressive speaker list and a 100% sold out trade show. The theme is "Generations of Opportunity, Sun and Water, Sons and Daughters." Register here before July 31st and save. For farm tours, upcoming sales, special events, new cookbooks, recipes, and much more - visit us on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, or our Blog. We always appreciate your feedback and comments. Sweltering July regards,
John, Lee Ann, Tressa, Amanda, Laura and Deric on behalf of the farm families of U.S. Wellness Meats

Men gradually lose bone mass as they age, which puts them at ris k for developing osteoporosis, a condition that makes bones weak and prone to breakage. Nearly 2 million men in the U.S. have the condition, and 16 million more have low bone mass, studies have shown. Now, University of Missouri researchers have found that certain types of weight-lifting and jumping exercises, when completed for at least six months, improve bone density in active, healthy, middle-aged men with low bone mass. These exercises may help prevent osteoporosis by facilitating bone growth, according to the study published in Bone.

A must-have for snacks! My family tried these for the first time today - all three of us love them (including my 3-year-old). They are a terrific snack, especially when one needs a jolt of protein. Megan S. Diamond Bar, CA

Turkish Grilled Sirloin Steak
Author: The Domestic Man
Ingredients:
- 16oz sirloin steak
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp yogurt
- 1/4 tsp each cumin, thyme, black pepper
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions:
- Combine all of the ingredients and marinate for four hours.
- Shake off some of the yogurt marinade, then place on a preheated grill.
- Grill on med/high heat, flipping every few minutes.
- It should take about 8 minutes to grill the steak to medium doneness.
- Cover the steak and let it rest for five minutes before eating.
That's it! Couldn't be easier. The steak was tangy and flavorful, and incredibly tender. Serve with a heaping portion of veggies and a nice big salad.
