Dear John,
At US Wellness Meats we recognize the tremendous benefits of organ meats and encourage their regular consumption as part of a healthy diet. In this week's Recipe Corner we feature one of our new products, Beef Sweetbread. Considered a delicacy in many South American and European countries, this organ meat is rich in trace minerals such as zinc and selenium in addition to being a great source of protein and omega 3 fatty acids. Check out the rest of the article in our Recipe Corner to learn more about Beef Sweetbread, and find two great recipes for preparing this nutrition packed organ meat.
Randy Hartnell is the founder of Vital Choice, a long term friend of US Wellness, and the supplier of our Wild-Caught Seafood items. Last year he was asked to share his story as part of a 7 part Breakthrough Health series documentary. The series will be released this summer in segments, but is available now in its entirety through Tuesday May, 3rd. These 7 stories are worth hearing. Click here to view the trailer, and then register to see the entire film.
Helping to support healthy lifestyles for families is one of the main reasons that we exist. This week Scott Mendelson responds to a mother's request for tips on training with her family, and nutrition advice for her teenage sons. The techniques he shares can be applied to training with any small group.
Finally another great way to introduce organ meats into your diet is with Braunschweiger or Liverwurst. Maybe Mom really does know best -- after many years of no longer eating these meats, Jennifer M. recently tried both and then shared her feedback which you can read in our Customer Feedback feature.
Warmest Grassland Regards,

Athlete's Corner - Scott Mendelson Q&A |
|
Scott~ I have a husband and am the mother of 2 teenage male athletes. We are all in good shape, but want to reduce body fat levels and improve strength. How can we all train at the same time productively? What extra tips do you have for my sons to gain some muscle while losing body fat? Julie, Grand Rapids Michigan
Julie~ The 6 Station Great Body Challenge will be excellent for your family or any small group of people who want to train together in a time efficient manner. The training system involves the use of 6 exercises in a row with minimal rest between sets to boost fat burning hormone levels. The four of you can work through the various stations in order without getting in each others way.

"Very Tasty!"
"I used to eat Braunschweiger as a kid, my mom would make sandwiches with it. Of course, once I figured out what was in it, I stopped eating it. Now I am trying to eat a healthier and varied diet. Checked out the "store" braunschweiger, but it is filled with nitrates. A friend recommended US Wellness Meats. Ordered the braunschweiger and liverwurst. Both are excellent! Tastes just like I remember. I will partly-thaw the rolls, then slice them, wrap in parchment paper, and refreeze two slices to a small bag. I defrost the small portions as needed. I will eat it plain. Have not had any problems with texture or strong odor. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone! The liverwurst has a slightly stronger taste, but that is to be expected with the kidneys in the mix."

Organ meats were a staple part of our ancestors diets and provided a tremendous nutritional benefit to groups of people who had limited access to other nutrient dense foods. Our ancestors experienced difficult times and had to make the most out of each calorie source they had access too. When they killed an animal they would consume every part of the animal.
Our current society has no emphasis on organ meats and they are mostly avoided. At US Wellness Meats we continue to savor the benefits of organ meats and support and encourage their consumption in our routine diets. Consuming organ meats on a regular basis can provide one with incredible health and performance benefits.
