School Lunches & Meal Prep
Back to school means a change in routines for many families. While routines might need to change to accommodate early mornings, after-school activities, sports schedules, and travel back and forth, nutrition remains a vital contributor to the health and wellness of your student. It can sometimes be taxing just trying to keep them from the sugar-laden processed foods available everywhere. Positive food attitudes can be fostered at home by including them in your food studies, shopping, label reading, meal preparation, etc. Let them know why you choose certain foods over others. It can help to involve children at a young age in these discussions about nutrition. Keeping your children engaged with their food helps create a lasting legacy for healthy families. Shopping and meal planning are also excellent ways to teach children about personal finance. When they realize that you take planning seriously, they are more likely to do the same.
Efficient meal planning can be done year-round. If cooking ahead for future meals is something you usually do, then Back to School time becomes less stressful too. One more way to involve your children is to put them to work in the kitchen. Sometimes it's not so apparent, but children want to be helpful and invested in the family. Whether they are helping to prepare food, portioning, cleaning up, or doing dishes, it's a way they can help carry out some of the responsibilities and feel pride in their accomplishments. We have some tips on our Discover Blog that you might find helpful during this Back to School season. Through Saturday, get 15% off our Kids' Picks category with foods children love!

Know Your Farmer | Healthy Soils for High Quality
Know your food, know your farmer is something we talk a lot about here at US Wellness Meats. We hope this saying inspires people to take a minute to ponder where their food is sourced. For vegetables, is it sourced from farms free of pesticides, herbicides, and non-Gmo? What about protein - have these animals been raised without antibiotics or added growth hormones? These are questions we all deserve to know when deciding how to fuel our bodies. Are we helping nourish our bodies with every bite or holding them back from achieving our best selves?
This quality starts from the ground up beginning with healthy soils that provide an elite foundation for our farms, our animals, and our patrons. See the pastures in action with our On The Farm series narrated by Lead Farmer, John Wood. From pasture rotations to our state-of-the-art meat cutting room where we carefully package products for your families, you will have the chance to experience how much quality means to our team. With each order we hope you can taste the grass-fed difference.
