Histamine Intolerance
We've been receiving many more calls regarding histamines. What meats are lower in histamines? What procedures reduce histamines? Is there a difference in meats and fish? ...etc. Histamines are a natural occurence in foods, but it's estimated that around 1% of the population has histamine intolerance. That's increasingly concerning as it means the body's natural defenses are weakening to some extent. We saw this years ago when we began seeing an increase in calls about autoimmune disorders. With more and more chemicals being used in the environment, conventional and ultra-processed foods gaining a foothold, and increased use of pharmaceuticals to address health concerns, our bodies eventually begin to struggle dealing with all of it. This really is the main reason why it's important to eat food as close to nature as possible with little or no additives and raised on farms with holistic principles. The further you eat away from nature, the less your food remembers where it came from. Or, maybe it never came from nature in the first place. We don't think that's a healthy way to eat. More and more evidence supporting that premise is available for anyone who wants to dig a little deeper.
There are a lot of environmental factors we can do little about in life, but some things like food is different. You have a choice to eat ultra-processed, conventional food or all-natural. Choices catch up with us eventually, so make it a priority to tell friends and family about the differences. Educate yourself about the foods you eat. Know your food and where it comes from. Conventional farms that supply the big retailers often don't concern themselves with what their animals eat, but it does make a difference. "Our animals eat right so you can too" is not just a tag line, it's what we believe!

Product Feature | Low Histamine Meat and Fish: A Complete Guide
A low-histamine diet is an attempt to reduce exposure to histamines, a prominent chemical (specifically a biogenic amine) that affects our digestive and immune systems. Most people’s bodies have defenses that rapidly detoxify histamines, but around 1% of the population has histamine intolerance (HIT), which means their bodies aren’t as good at detoxifying these particular chemicals. We've assembled a histamine guide on our Discover Blog for more information.
