All-Star Approach
Sometimes life throws us a curve ball. Curve balls, knuckle balls, and sliders are all hittable, but they don't usually hang in the middle of the plate on a serving dish. A good curve can buckle the knees and throw a wrench into a perfect at-bat. When you're in a groove, every pitch looks like a basketball. However, when you've been diagnosed with diabetes, an autoimmune disorder, cardiovascular disease, or even cancer, life gets more complicated in a big hurry. It's a hard pitch to square up. Health is one of those significant issues that can affect pretty much everything in life. There is so much ultra-processed "junk" food in the typical American diet; it’s no wonder these sicknesses are rising. We don't even know all the other stuff that finds its way into our food - chemicals, plastics, pesticides, herbicides, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It's all bad news. One of the most effective solutions is changing your batting stance. Maybe a different diet or routine can help get you back to swinging for the fences?
One of the most highly studied and effective diets has been the ketogenic diet. There are numerous iterations of this diet, some more restrictive or involved than others. It all depends on how serious you want to be about taking charge of your health. Here's the short version. Reduce or eliminate your intake of carbohydrates, including every kind of sugar. Replace those carbs with healthy fats. The human body was designed to burn fats. Remember, though, that all fats are not created equal. Healthy fats with lots of Omega-3 fatty acids found in 100% grass-fed animal proteins, tree nuts, avocados, and wild-caught seafood are a great place to start. Also, lard, tallow, coconut oil, and olive oil are better cooking alternatives to replace partially hydrogenated vegetable oils. Avoid artificial trans fats that are found in vegetable oils. These are often found in shortening, margarine, cakes, cream fillings, pies, and other tempting foods. So, if a health issue has you considering a new approach or want to eat healthily, learn more about special diets, nutrition, and fitness on our Discover Blog.

Know Your Farmer | Trust the Source
Know your food, know your farmer is something we talk a lot about here at US Wellness Meats. We hope this saying inspires people to take a minute to ponder where their food is sourced. For vegetables, is it sourced from farms free of pesticides, herbicides, and non-Gmo? What about protein - have these animals been raised without antibiotics or added growth hormones? These are questions we all deserve to know when deciding how to fuel our bodies. Are we helping nourish our bodies with every bite or holding them back from achieving our best selves?
Trusting a source is a big leap of faith. We know this, and it is the reason we do our very best to be transparent about our farming and processing practices from start to finish. We hope to allow a window into our everyday lives on the farm and in the warehouse through our social media channels, blog, and email newsletter. Take a virtual walk through our pastures where we follow regenerative agricultural practices and a look at our state-of-the-art meat cutting room where we carefully package products for your families.
