Finding Balance
Have you ever tried to balance yourself on a surfboard, skateboard, or newfangled hoverboard? Not many can jump right on and maintain perfect balance from the get-go. The waves can get pretty intense on a surfboard, making it hard to hang on. There are always obstacles to maintaining balance. Experience comes from practice, and practice can be painful at times, perhaps pummeled by crashing waves, coral, or unforgiving concrete. Experience teaches us some important lessons, though, and moves us that much closer to success.
Finding the proper balance for our bodies to operate at peak performance can be equally challenging. Since each body is different, there is no perfect plan that works for everyone the same way. That means that if we want to find a good balance for our body, we need to tune in, experiment, and learn from what we experience. Many well-intentioned people try some form of a vegan diet in search of better health. Unfortunately, removing meat from a diet also means you're likely to lack a whole host of valuable nutrients: Omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin A, Vitamin D3, B-Vitamins, Zinc, Choline, Calcium, Iodine, Iron, Selenium, and many more. This lack of nutrients can cause the body to revolt. That's usually painful. A typical American diet can consist of far too many ultra-processed foods. This can cause many health problems, from autoimmune disorders to heart disease, diabetes, or cancer. That's painful too. Some people thrive on a ketogenic diet, while others benefit from some form of ancestral, carnivore, or Mediterranean diet. Whichever diet you find works best for you, find success quicker with fewer crashes by consuming high-quality foods that are as close to nature as you can find. Include a good dose of exercise, sleep, and sunshine in the equation for improved results.
