While many parts of the country are still experiencing summer temperatures, it is almost at an end. Labor Day is the unoffical start to the fall season. That doesn't mean we won't experience more of summer, but in the next several weeks it will eventually cool down and the glory of a kaleidoscope of fall colors, and cooler evenings, begin to prevail. Cooler temperatures make it much more appealing to be outdoors playing and grilling. After working up a good sweat in the garden, kayaking, hiking, or bicycling, what better way to enjoy the fruits of your labor than with a delicious meal off the grill or smoker. If your local farmer's market has summer squash and onions, you have the makings of delicious grilled kabobs. Add your favorite protein (grass-fed beef, lamb, bison or pastured pork, chicken, or even wild-caught shrimp) to the skewer with squash, pineapple chunks, and an onion and you have a palate pleasing plan for you and your guests. There isn't much easier and quicker you can make on the grill except maybe burgers and hot dogs which of course are always a winner.
