In the Lord of the Rings, we become acquainted with Hobbits through J.R.R. Tolkiens adventures. Hobbits are referred to as Halflings because of their diminutive size. What they lack in height, they seem to make up for in friendliness, trustworthiness, faith, hope, and a peaceful lifestyle. They are a hungry lot and often found wondering aloud about the next meal. In a short scene during the fellowship's trek across the wilderness, we find one of many conversations about food.
Aragorn: "Gentlemen, we do not stop ’til nightfall."
Pippin: "What about breakfast?"
Aragorn: "You’ve already had it."
Pippin: "We’ve had one, yes. What about second breakfast?"
[Aragorn turns and walks away]
Merry: "I don’t think he knows about second breakfast, Pip."
Pippin: "What about elevenses? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper? He knows about them, doesn’t he?"
Merry: "I wouldn’t count on it."

Americans may have an even bigger appetite than Hobbits. That's all fine and well unless exercise and activity are not part of the routine as well. A good fitness routine whether work related or in a gym will boost metabolism and keep those clothes fitting properly even with a bigger appetite.
