Everyone knows that a calendar year consists of 365 days. That's how long it takes for the earth to orbit the sun. Wait! Not so fast. It's actually 365.242190 days to orbit the sun for a full calendar year. That little tidbit of a decimal point presents time keepers with a bit of a problem. If we just kept to the 365 day pace, eventually we'd end up with summer snow storms. The solution? Tack on a day at the end of February every four years or so. If you know anyone with a birthday on February 29th during a leap year, they have an even odder dilemma. They only get to celebrate on their actual birth DAY once every 4 years. In other calendar news...March 10 is the day we'll "spring forward" this year. It can be a bit of a nuisance to get used to, but it means we'll have more time to enjoy the outdoors. For our farmers, it also means they don't have to do evening farm chores in the dark.
