Happy New Year! The holidays are behind us and while they were full of fun and fellowship, we may have let ourselves slip just a bit in order to enjoy a few sweet treats. The new year affords us the traditional opportunity to make amends with our body. New Year's resolutions are sometimes the same as last year's version, but it doesn't mean that we didn't improve. Some improvements happen incrementally, or two steps forward, one step back. Since recognition is a big part of overcoming. Once we recognize where we need correction, it's just a matter of finding a solution. The beauty of a new year is that we get a do over. In golf, when we shank one into the trees, a mulligan can give us another chance to get it right — without incurring the penalty. In life, bad habits might actually result in some penalties, but with some timely corrections, we can hopefully avoid any life altering consequences.
So, before we tee off again, or climb back on this metaphorical New Year's horse, let's remember to give ourselves a little mercy from time to time. No reason to chuck it all just because we have a set back. If we fall off, we can brush ourselves off and climb back on for another go.
For those who have made losing a few extra pounds a priority this year, a pretty good option for starters is an elimination diet. An elimination diet cuts out all of the junk and focuses on whole, clean foods to allow the body to heal and make adjustments. One option is Whole30. Our friends at Whole30 have this down to a science. They have everything you need to make a go of it. Once you've done your 30 days, then maybe an ancestral, paleo, sugar-free, or ketogenic diet might make sense. Whatever you decide, make sure to listen closely to your body and pay attention to any changes you notice. Visit with a holistically trained physician to get some tips and recommendations.
At US Wellness Meats, we specialize in raising animals the way nature intended. We think our foods are as close to all-natural as you'll find, unless of course you pick up a fishing pole or hunt for your own food.
Well Wishes, Team USWM
