Old-timey breakfasts don't have to be a thing of the past. If you are blessed with memories of childhood weekends waking up to the smell of sausages, bacon, fresh biscuits, gravy, grits, oatmeal, ripe fruits, pancakes, etc., then you have something special. These early mornings started with some of the best food on the planet and depending what generation you grew up in, might have been right off the family farm. Many Americans have been influenced by government guidance that has been critical of animal fats common place in these morning meals. Frankly, the data they use to support their guidance is so skewed by the sourcing that it's hard to read much into it. Small, rural family farms produce higher quality proteins compared to conventional factory food operations today. This is true with regard to animal health, nutritional value, and yes, even the fat content.
These memories are the kind that hearken back to a simpler time. In a lot of ways, it's a more delicious time too. Foods were real for the most part. Back before ultra-processed foods clogged our store and arteries, real whole milk and butter was common in American homes, especially in rural areas. Today, we have to be more conscious of what we eat primarily because there are so many manufactured ingredients, some intentional in order to preserve the food, add flavor, color, and so forth, and some ingredients that just come along for the ride. These are things like pesticides, herbicides, microplastics, antibiotics, GMOs, etc. So many additional ingredients that by the time you get through reading the bacon label at the grocery store, you may have had another birthday. When you see ingredients on a package that you can't pronounce or spell, it's a good indication you might not really want that particular ingredient in your body. Chances are it got its beginning in a laboratory, not on the farm.
Regardless of the food shopping challenges facing us today, we can still make new long-lasting memories for ourselves and for our children and grandchildren. US Wellness Meats will help with the challenging bits. You can always count on us to raise our animals the way they should be, respectfully and with a concern for their well-being and health. We know how important that is ethically and for the nutritional value of the meats. We will also never use antibiotics, GMOs, pesticides, or herbicides so the bacon, sausages, and other breakfast favorites you enjoy will never be contaminated with chemicals or other junk ingredients. In fact, if you take a look at our bacon label, you'll notice that besides the pastured heirloom pork that has been raised organically, the only other ingredient we add is Sea Salt. It is absolutely delicious and for our older patrons who remember, you'll think you were right back at your grandmother's breakfast table.
