Good Routines...

It's estimated that a new routine takes between 3 weeks and a year to establish. It's a wide range, but there are a whole host of factors. Determination can play a huge role in adopting good habits and reaching goals. Determination isn't something we can buy in the store. It's something deep within all of us. Unfortunately, this sometimes doesn't come out until we get to a low point and have to make a change. Isn't it better to recognize when we're sliding so we can make adjustments before we don't really have a choice? Whether it's poor diet, weight gain, lack of exercise, lack of sleep, or high stress, we can begin to fix these things with some good habits. If there's more than one area causing distress, maybe it doesn't work to take all of it on at once. In that case, try to attack the area you feel more confident focusing on. Ask a friend or loved one to get on board with you so there's accountability. Once you've got a win under your belt, your determination will seem that much more powerful.

The areas above - diet, sleep, exercise, stress - these are the key areas that can effect every part of our lives. As we age, it becomes even more important to keep these balanced. In the short term it might not seem like a big deal, but add together several years of poor diet, lack of exercise and sleep, or highly stressful work and you've got a recipe for long term wellness issues.
