If you've ever spent time in the woods hunting for small game or big game, you know the thrill of the hunt generates a lot of excitement. It can also fill your freezer with a lot of meat if you're successful. Our ancestors were far more interested in the meat than they were the thrill, but it's nearly impossible to separate the two. A hunt for wild game and survival takes us back in history when people had no choice. This was how pioneers survived. In the earliest days settling the west, caravans of people traveled across this continent in search of a place to call home - a homestead where they could thrive away from the busy, growing cities. There weren't many outposts early on with opportunities to stock up on supplies, and certainly no grocery stores. If you were traveling to unsettled lands, you either had people in your group who could hunt and were willing to trade / share, or you hired trappers, hunters, and guides. Many brought there own livestock which meant tending and providing for them along the way. Traveling with children is one thing, traveling with livestock across hundreds of miles in wagons or horseback must have been something else entirely. Travelers would have taken as much jerky and dried goods with them as possible, but feeding a family in the wilderness for 4-6 months would have been quite an undertaking. It's estimated that nearly 65,000 people perished on the western trails over a 25 year period.
We mention the early pioneer days because we raise our animals the way nature intended. They grow up on green pastures much like pioneers would have encountered hundreds of years ago. Our farms use NO chemical herbicides or pesticides, NO GMOs, NO antibiotics, NO added growth hormones and NO junk additives. We simply raise them on grass pastures that are managed with rest periods so the land can recover as well. It's much like how wild buffalo, elk, moose, and deer would have grazed the countryside. We like to say, "it's as close to wild as your going to find without heading out into the woods yourself." We invite you to taste and experience the difference between commercial factory farmed meats and our grass-fed, grass-finished beef, lamb, bison, elk, and pasture-raised heritage pork, poultry. jerky, snacks, and more! If you haven't tried it already, you're missing out on some of the most nourishing food on the planet...and tastiest too! You don't even need to wear camouflage, just a few clicks and your food arrives at your door.
