|
Jesse
Marunde will be competing in Moscow July 1st
and
2nd in the WSM Super Series. Let's wish Jesse the
strongest send off possible as he competes with
world strongest athletes.
Jesse is currently consuming 100 pounds of U.S.
Wellness beef per month.
Our other friend in strongman, Jon
Andersen, finished
second overall in a very impressive performance by
an American in the Holland Grand Prix strongman
contest on June 10th at
an
IFSA
sanctioned event. Only legendary Russian Zydrunas
Savickas
stood in Jon's way for first place. The great
Russian has not been defeated for
at least 3 years.

What's Up Doc by Alan Newport |

U.S. Wellness Meats is pleased to feature Dr. Al
Sears
and his intriguing book
The Doctor's Heart
Cure
Today we
discuss how to
Exercise Quicker and Better.
The standard prescription for heart
health these days wrongly includes many hours of
exercise per week, says Dr. Al Sears in his
groundbreaking book The Doctors Heart Cure.
The long-duration, marathon-like approach to
exercise actually does nothing to prepare your heart
and lungs to resist heart attack, and it sends the
wrong signals about fat use and conservation to your
body, Sears explains. We covered some of this
reasoning in a recent newsletter.
Instead of a status-quo exercise program, Sears
recommends PACETM -- Progressively
Accelerating
Cardiopulmonary Exertion. His PACE program, in its
final stages, consists of short bursts of very intense
exercise, interrupted by short periods he calls rest,
but which are really cooling off periods of walking or
continued moving at very low rates.
Sears' PACE program can take as little as 10
minutes per day!
Sears' PACE program helps you work up to the
final
stages of PACE over about eight weeks. The idea is
to bring your heart and lungs (cardiopulmonary
system) up to fitness gradually and carefully. Then
you'll be fit and prepared for those sudden spikes in
physical activity which tend to cause heart
attacks.

Certified Humane Pork President Featured in NY Times |
|
From a report by The New York
Times
In 1993 Missouri hog farmer Russ Kremer nearly lost
his leg to one of his hogs.
It started as a simple accident. He was moving his
new boar to a pen with the sows on his farm in
Osage County when the boar swung his head and
punctured Kremer's knee with his tusk.
Kremer, a fifth-generation pig farmer, didn't worry
about the incident until his leg swelled to twice its
normal size. Several rounds of antibiotics and a
hospital stay later, he still wasn't cured. The
infection was resistant to nearly everything. The
doctors ultimately determined that Kremer's
problems
were caused by a mutated form of staphylococcal
bacteria, and they were able to cure him with one of
the last-resort, strongest antibiotics available.
After Kremer recovered he traced the boar back to
the Kansas farmer who had raised him.
The breeder of that boar has fed his animals penicillin
daily to keep control of a staph problem. That
knowledge and experience changed Kremer, who up
to that point has used basically the same
industrialized agricultural methods. At that point
Kremer says he understood truly what a danger
antibiotics fed to livestock pose to human health.

Minimum Purchase Reminder |
|
Our new format enacted in April 2005 requires a
$75 minimum purchase and a 7 pound minimum
combined purchase of
beef,
lamb,
pork,
raw cheese,
single piece poultry, and
butter.
The issue is the bulk chicken and ten pound
cheese bundles originate from separate cold storage
centers where those products are produced. It is not
efficient to ship one package of beef as a stand
alone item when the balance of the order originates
400 miles away.
The shopping cart will keep track and remind you if
you are under the 7 pound limit for a combination of
beef, lamb, pork, raw cheese and butter
purchases. Red font will appear under the shopping
cart if you are under the minimum price or pound
requirements
