    New For Pet Owners
U.S. Wellness Meats has created a pet food liverwurst sausage. The experimental recipe did not work out perfect in texture for the food store but will be perfect for pets. We have taken out all of the industrial binders that make fabrication easy and are experimenting with natural binders and haven't found the perfect 1800's recipe yet. It contains 30% beef trim, 30% beef liver, 20% beef heart and 20% beef kidney from grass-fed beef animals.

Consumption of Raw Milk May Offer Protection Against Asthma and Allergy

In a cross-sectional multi-center study involving 14,893 children aged 5-13 years, results indicated that consumption of raw farm milk might exert a protective effect against asthma and allergy.

Serum samples were obtained from the participants and allergen-specific IgE was measured. After adjusting for potential confounders, raw farm milk consumption ever was associated with a 26% reduced risk of asthma, a 44% reduced risk of rhinoconjunctivitis, a 33% reduced risk of sensitization to pollen, and a 50% reduced risk of sensitization to horse dander.

The results indicate that consumption of raw farm milk may offer protection against asthma and allergy.

Conjugated Linoleic Acid May Reduce Body Fat and Prevent Weight Gain

In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving 49 overweight but otherwise healthy adults (aged 18-44 years), supplementation with conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) for a period of 6 months was found to reduce body fat and prevent weight gain during the holiday season.

Subjects were randomized to receive either 3.2 g/day CLA or a placebo. Results found that after six months, body composition was improved among subjects taking the CLA - specifically, body fat was reduced (-1.0 kg) among subjects taking CLA, while no such change was found among subjects taking the placebo.

Furthermore, the rate of reported negative emotions decreased significantly among subjects taking CLA, compared to baseline reporting.

    Jesse Marunde

Jesse Marunde is fine tuning for the WSMSS Muscle Beach Grand Prix to be held in Venice, CA. on June 16th. To give you a taste of the effort required, please note the course of events and think about the strength required:

    • 550 pound fishing pole dead lift
    • 660 pound Apollo's Axle dead lift
    • 705 pound power lifting bar
    • Carry 880 pound frame 10 meters for time
To top off their tanks, contestants will be required to lift and carry Odd Haugen's 410 pound tomb stone rock on a 20 meter course for time.

I hope to live to see the day when strongman athletes receive the same recognition and compensation as the ultimate fighters. No one works any harder for the least amount of compensation than these athletes who take their bodies to the brink every time they compete.

Getting Back to a Natural, Healthy Diet By Al Sears, MD

Conventional wisdom tells you to avoid fat whenever possible, especially saturated animal fat. That's too bad. Your body needs fat. It's essential to life. The real problem is that our modern world changed the character of fat. For millions of years, red meat has been humankind's primary source of fat and protein. But today, nutrition "experts" tell you it's deadly. How can that be? Did our bodies change? No. The red meat has changed. Read More

    Sports and Nutrition Questions?

    Eric Seranno

The format for Dr. Serrano's question and answer session will be very simple. Please E-mail U.S. Wellness Meats and we will publish answers on a first-come, first-serve basis.

This issue will be devoted to a special article written by Dr. Serrano based on a number of questions surrounding the fat issues discussed below. This article is a real gem and should be saved or printed for reference.

    The Power of Fat
    By Dr. Serrano

I decided to write this article because the number of questions U.S. Wellness Meats is getting about the consumption of fat and the types of fat. This article may raise some controversy and some researchers may question it, but this has real life application, and it works 99% of the time--and rarely anything works 99%.

Before I start with a lesson on fats, I will define what classes of fats are out there, what they are, what they do, and how to manipulate them to lose fat, and increase muscle size, while adding some years to your life.

Wife Consumes Her Body Weight in Jerky, Exposing and Evading Grocery Store Fat Traps
    By Shane Ellison, M.Sc.
    shane ellison

My wife recently consumed her body weight in beef jerky. What was supposed to be a light, healthy snack turned into an all out beef eating binge.

Her ravenous consumption made me ponder that it must be an especially good brand. Rushing out of town, I bought it at my local health food store. That was where I messed up big time!

Ignoring the label, I was ensnared by the number one grocery store fat trap - which was the cause of my wife's abnormal and ravenous consumption of the beef.. If I can succumb to them, then everyone is susceptible to the fat traps lurking in grocery stores.

    buck on rear legs

This article is a continuation of the story first published in March regarding my golden retriever, Buck, who recovered from a spiral candy cane fracture of the femur in January of 2006. Recovery was accomplished without surgery or casting of any kind!

The picture above is proof positive ole Buck is 100% healed on a diet of raw burger, marrow bones and knuckle bones supplemented with Or-ion concentrated minerals and Or-ion organic calcium. Milliseconds after the shutter closed, his rear legs were two feet airborne in pursuit of a marrow bone in my right hand.

We welcome your comments regarding unique pet healing or nutrition related stories. We will publish on a first come first serve basis.

    Minimum Purchase Reminder

Our new format enacted in April 2005 requires a $75 minimum purchase and a 7 pound minimum combined purchase of beef, lamb, pork, nutraceuticals, gourmet rabbit, soap, organic shrimp, grass-fed goat, grass-fed bison, raw cheese, single piece poultry, and butter.

The issue is the bulk chicken and ten pound cheese bundles originate from separate cold storage centers where those products are produced. It is not efficient to ship one package of beef as a stand alone item when the balance of the order originates 400 miles away.

The shopping cart will keep track and remind you if you are under the 7 pound limit for a combination of beef, lamb, pork, raw cheese, butter, goat, shrimp, soap and single honey bottle purchases. Red font will appear under the shopping cart if you are under the minimum price or pound requirements
