Dear John,
Who's Hungry? It's April and our newest Featured Chef, Michelle Smith, and her mouthwatering recipes are showcased on the website. If you like what you see, visit our chef's page to see her interview and discover her delicious recipes.
Seafood, Seafood, Seafood! You asked for expanded selections, and we have delivered. Smoked Salmon, Petrale Sole, and Alaskan King Crab Claws. US Wellness relationship with Vital Choice dates back to 2003, with many similar struggles in our founding years. We have much admiration for the folks at Vital Choice. The integrity that Vital Choice brings to your table in wild caught seafood is unmatched in our humble opinion.
Tired of hearing that fats are good for you? We know the feeling, it is almost impossible to look at a health magazine, newspaper, or website without being bombarded with this "shocking" news. So this week we are approaching the topic from a slightly different viewpoint. Read this excerpt from one of Dr. Mercola's articles and learn how much Omega-3 we should be getting in our diet.
Need a wild caught seafood recipe to jump-start your Omega-3 intake? Check out Melissa Joulwan's simple and budget friendly Oven-Fried Salmon Cakes in the Recipe Corner. Or try this savory recipe from several years ago that we stumbled across this week, Mixed Seafood Paella. Feel free to experiment and substitute or add any of your favorite seafood items.

Omega-3~ How Much and Best Sources?
Many Americans diets are lacking in healthy fats, and this includes the animal-based omega-3 fats eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Although omega-3s are most well known for their role in heart health, they're important for so much more. Your brain, bones, mental health and even your risk of cancer are all impacted by these beneficial fats. In the U.S., Americans spend about $1.2 billion on omega-3 fat supplements every year,1 although few are aware of what dose, and what sources, are best.

Eating the right Omega-3 fatty acids is essential for overall optimal health benefits. These Salmon Cakes are a delicious, easy way to get those good Omega-3's! (Read here about how Melissa uses Omega-3 fatty acids to combat high blood pressure.) Canned salmon is also a more budget friendly way to buy wild caught salmon.
"They're fast - less than an hour from pantry to plate - and they use ingredients you probably have in your kitchen right now. They're great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and, like a favorite little black dress that makes you feel good and goes with everything, they're easy to adapt to your mood and what's in your kitchen."
