Veggies vs Meat
In Dr. Mercola's article this week, two doctors have a more-or-less friendly debate over whether plant-based or meat-based diets are healthier. Dr. Saladino takes up the side of meat eaters while Dr. Fuhrman sides with veggies. We might be slightly biased, but we love veggies too. What's better on a grass-fed beef burger than a homegrown tomato? OK, you're right, bacon is right up there too - no disagreement here. What about a good grass-fed beef steak or pork chops? A potato, brussels sprouts, asparagus, or even a spinach salad makes a wonderful complement. Maybe the easiest dish to appreciate the meat and veggie partnership is the kabob. Heat up the grill, grab the skewers and alternate between chunks of chicken, beef, cherry tomatoes, squash, mushrooms, onions, peppers or whatever you like. Kabobs are truly a delicious and versatile taste sensation.
Is breakfast any different? Not really! Meat and veggies make tasteful companions for breaking fast too. Need some ideas? Try a 3 oz filet mignon with avocado, or pastured eggs and bacon, with a side of hashbrowns or sweet potato. An egg omelette with peppers, mushrooms, sugar-free sausage, ground beef, or chorizo makes a super tasty breakfast. For a lighter breakfast combination, try some liverwurst and raw, grass-fed cheese with some mushrooms. Hungry yet? We are...let's eat!
