Resolutions
Happy New Year! The New Year is upon us and with it the opportunity to make a fresh start. New Year's Resolutions are a tradition, but all too often they get abandoned after a bad day or two. We want the new year to be the best it can be. What can we do to make sure we turn the resolution into routine? Here are a few tips for doing just that: 1. Keep it simple - Simple changes can be built upon over time, but trying to accomplish too much in too short a time can kill a resolution. 2. Stick with it - if you're starting a new diet or exercise regimen, try to do it every day. Studies indicate that if you can make it between 21-30 days doing something, you've made it routine. 3. Power of positive thinking - Get some encouragement and try to stay positive. Realize that you might have an off day and commit to bouncing back quickly. Don't let a bad day interfere with an important change. 4. Be Accountable - Whole30 has a wonderful coaching network to encourage and guide people through the 30-day program. Having someone keep us accountable really does help through the ups and downs. See if a friend or family member will take the challenge with you. 5. Educate Yourself - Make some time to read, and educate yourself on other people's experiences. There's a good chance someone else has faced similar obstacles.
If you're looking for a reasonable diet to try, remember to start with quality food. Whichever diet you decide on, it's only as good as the food that you eat. If the food lacks nutritional value, your body will eventually notice. Whole30 and Ketogenic diets are both excellent choices to consider. The Whole30 plan basically focuses on whole, all-natural, healthy foods. A Keto diet is geared toward improving the way the body processes food by training it to burn cleaner, healthier fats instead of carbohydrates.
