Favorite Memories
What are your favorite memories? Is there a particular time in your life when you look back and can't help but smile? As we get older, some memories can fade a bit. Others have more clarity. Science is continuing to trace many cognitive issues to nutrition. A lifetime of eating ultra-processed, fast foods and an abundance of sugar can have consequences most would rather avoid. As soils continue to be neglected, nutrition becomes more complicated. Add to this decline in nourishment, a growing sugar addiction, and we have a perfect storm of health-related issues. Autoimmune disorders, obesity, heart disease, cancers, and cognitive functions have been rising for years. Now we're being told that more fake foods like lab-grown meats and ultra-processed plant-based meats will be our primary source of protein in the future. That doesn't need to be the case. Regenerative farming operations, like what we employ on US Wellness farms, are a viable option — now and for the future. It's not only achievable, but we've proven it can heal the land, clean the air and water, and provide sustainable food sources for generations. All it takes is a dedication to working with nature instead of against it.
As increasing numbers of consumers choose to eat healthily, more farms are engaging in efforts to reclaim dead or dying lands. More farmers are seeing the potential for organic methods and holistic approaches to raising food. If this continues, the future of agriculture and good nutrition is so bright that there's no need for fake foods. If more consumers decide to make the necessary changes to improve quality of life and nutrition, we like our chances to feed the world and heal the planet. We're hopeful that our great-grandchildren will still be making memories years from now, enjoying real 100% grass-fed steaks right off the grill. Dr. Sears discusses the science of memory and cognitive issues in this week's article, "Memories Don't Disappear.”

"Learn how to tell when meat is done by poking it. You don’t want to have to keep stabbing meat with a thermometer as you’ll lose a lot of the juices. It is also way quicker. A finger is more instant than an instant read thermometer!" — Gil Butler, The Primal Chef
