Spring Clean
Last weekend marked the beginning of spring. This week the midwest has had a wintery reminder that March can literally bring all sorts of weather. Just because the calendar says it's spring, doesn't mean much to mother nature. Fortunately, we should begin to enjoy more warmer days going forward. Less ice and snow, more rain and sunshine will begin to wake up the world around us. Spring is also a time to clean up our lives. Spring cleaning has its roots in various cultural traditions, and of course necessity. Early Americans used oils, coal, and wood for heating and lighting. Much of the cleaning process involved removing soot, dust, and germs from the months of closed up houses. Spring allows us to open up the house and let the warm breezes and sunshine do its work. If you'll be doing a deep clean, try to avoid harsh chemicals and cleaners and stick to natural cleaning products like vinegar, baking soda, or lemon juice.
Along with cleaning the nooks and crannies in the house, it's a good time to clean up our insides too. As Kelley Herring has discussed, a short fast can help kick start a new diet or give your body a clean reset. Consider giving up processed and fast foods for whole, all-natural foods. Ashley Martens has some tips for spring clean your body with food.
Product Feature | Get Hooked On Wild-Caught Seafood
Wild caught fish get their nutrients, specifically their Omega-3’s, from eating aquatic plants. On the other hand, farm raised fish are fed corn, soy and high protein pellet fish feed that contain little to no nutritional value for the fish. This unnatural diet also means that some fish may accumulate unhealthy levels of Omega-6 fatty acids, which are inflammatory by nature. Keep reading more about Wild-Caught Seafood on our Discover Blog.
Know Your Food | Quality Sources
We think it's important to know where food comes from, how it's raised, and who raises it. These are important factors because nutrition (people fuel) starts in the ground not in a laboratory or factory. Our farms are dedicated to being good stewards of the land, air, water, and animals we raise. We were sustainable before sustainable was cool. US Wellness Farms use NO antibiotics, NO GMOs, NO added growth hormones, NO pesticides, and NO Herbicides. Our foods are all-natural and loaded with quality nutrition.
