Outdoor Cooking
There is something special about cooking outdoors. Depending on the tools you choose, it can be different from indoor cooking in many ways. Ultimately, cooking is about applying heat to food. If you have some experience cooking, you'll know that time and temperature work together to make this a memorable experience or one you'd rather forget. Get this math problem right, and a thick juicy grass-fed steak is a surefire gold star! What is your favorite outdoor method - Grilling, BBQ, Smoking? Each has unique guidelines, but once you've gotten acquainted with your grill or smoker, the sky's the limit. Good tools can make a world of difference too. If you consider yourself a master on the grill or BBQ, might we recommend giving the smoker a try? Smoking meats can be fun to experience and offers a new dimension in outdoor cooking. Choose your grill - there is a multitude of serious contenders out there.
The Kamado ceramic grill has various iterations, but most brands center on a ceramic egg-like structure that slow-cooks meat and veggies at a lower heat. These ceramic grills help maintain the consistent heat and infuse the meat with a wonderful smokiness in every bite. The griller can look forward to another benefit: the smell of smoking a steak, brisket, or ribs is intoxicating and guaranteed to draw a crowd of observers. A subtly nuanced word of encouragement can result in onlookers and newfound friends bringing along your favorite beverages for admittance into the inner circle.
One essential item to remember when cooking grass-fed meats is that they are naturally leaner, similar to wild, and require less time on heat. A good grass-fed cookbook can provide an excellent reference for times and temps. We have a wide range of recommended cookbooks on our Discover Blog, whether you're cooking indoors or out. Our Discover Blog also has many excellent Grass-fed Grilling Tips and recipes to make the most out of your grilling experience. One final thing - don't give up! If your first attempts are not so great, remember what Thomas Edison said, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." Keep at it, and you'll find success on the grill.
Product Feature | Raising the Steaks
100% grass-fed steaks are more nutritious than conventional beef and contain higher branch chain amino acids and essential vitamins. Compared to commercially raised meat, grass-fed is much leaner and contains vital nutrients that improve immunity and reduce inflammation, including antioxidants and around twice the conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). Grass-fed-and-finished beef contains up to 50% more Omega 3, the essential fatty oil found in salmon, and is less likely to have antibiotic-resistant bacteria, increasing the meat's food safety. Lifestyle | Steak and Butter to Reduce Dangerous Belly Fat
When it comes to your health, subcutaneous fat is relatively benign. Visceral fat, however, can be quite dangerous for your health. It is the deep belly fat that surrounds your internal organs. And this type of fat is highly metabolically active, producing molecules that negatively impact your metabolism, hormones, and levels of inflammation.
The great news is that reducing visceral fat can go a long way to ward off chronic illness. And it just might start with a nice juicy steak topped with a golden pat of butter…
