Aging is something we all do. It's like death and taxes. There's not much we can do to avoid it. Benjamin Franklin is quoted in 1789 as saying, "Our new Constitution is now established, everything seems to promise it will be durable; but, in this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes". Ben was sharing a bit of optimism and realism in that statement. The good news is with a few simple adjustments, we can age more gracefully. Good, balanced nutrition with plenty of healthy fats and protein, combined with regular exercise will go a long way in keeping a body healthy and fit.
Establish healthy routines and stick to it! Experts say it takes at least 3 weeks to establish a new routine. Three weeks to get on the path to feeling better sure seems like a good trade. Many people who cut out junk food, eat a more nourishing diet, and implement strength training, have found a virtual fountain of youth. While getting into good habits takes some effort, the recipe is actually fairly simple — cut out the junk, reduce alcohol consumption, stay active with a regular exercise plan, and eat healthy, nutrient dense foods! Not only does this recipe help us physically, but mental acuity is improved as well. The addition of healthy animal fats to a diet can improve memory and reduce cognitive loss. It is possible to regain youthfulness, both mentally and physically, well into our later years. It can be tempting to look back to our youth and long for those times, but aging doesn't have to be painful. There are many people in the ancestral and keto diet communities who will tell you they feel great in their 50's, 60's and 70's and have overcome many of their past ailments just by changing up their routines.
