Welcome to October! Cooler fall weather means more opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. Even something as low impact as a daily walk can be invigorating and helps with health and wellness. It doesn't take a full impact, hard-core workout to gain some benefit. Maybe you have noticed that Pickleball courts are springing up everywhere? The surge in interest has young and old alike heading outside to play. It's certainly less stress on the body than many sports, but depending on your normal level of activity can still be challenging. It's always a good idea to work up to a comfortable level of workout. Don't try to do too much too soon. That's why adding a walk or hike to your daily schedule is a good place to start, especially if you've gotten into a bit of a couch potato routine. Start slow, build up the exercise at a comfortable pace, pay attention to what your body tells you, and know when you need rest. A good workout that has muscles burning a bit means you're doing something right. Sore muscles and joints from a workout can feel good, but they also need time to heal and good nutrition to support the healing.

If you start yourself on a new exercise routine, whatever level, make sure to combine this with a healthy, all-natural, whole foods diet to maximize your results. The older you are, the more likely you're missing out on some key nutrients in your diet. This is especially important since foods today can be lacking in nutritional value. This is where quality food grown from quality soils is so important. Support your local farmer's markets, learn about how your food is raised and what goes into the process. According to a recent survey, 24% of participants said they workout long enough each week to meet the government-recommended 150 minutes a week of exercise. This is a big increase from a few years earlier. However, the same survey found that 31% of participants are obese – a number that has increased by 40% in two decades.

Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico Shipping
We have been studying our shipping rates for the last several months. Shipping costs, like everything else, continue to rise. Shipping costs outside the continental U.S. are particularly high. In order to continue shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico, we had to raise our rates a while back.

Fortunately, we were recently able to negotiate better rates with our carrier and wish to pass the savings along to our Alaska and Hawaii customers. Puerto Rico customers will see a slight increase in shipping fees but we've kept them as low as we possibly can.

Alaska and Hawaii will now be charged a flat shipping rate of $20 per order with a 15 lb minimum and 50 lb maximum. Puerto Rico will be charged a flat rate of $85 per order for shipping with a 15 lb minimum, 50 lb maximum. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we hope this new shipping policy ultimately helps our customers outside the continental U.S. of A.
