Burger Day & Steak Days
There are days when you just need a burger off the grill loaded with all the fixins'. An unsettled craving for a juicy burger can taunt us until our appetite is sated. The same could be said for a thick, juicy steak. Maybe it's something in the air or water that prompts these desires? Or, maybe summertime grilling is hardwired into our DNA. During warmer months when the grills are fired up and the intoxicating aroma of grilled meat is in the air, it's no wonder we have these cravings. A masterfully prepared steak or burger can create a longing for more. When you've experienced something so delicious, taste buds can be triggered by just smelling a grill heat up.
Science has yet to fully explore this topic or the psychological effects of delicious food cravings, but we know instinctively that there are burger days and there are steak days. Burger days are no nonsense, no fuss, just a raw, simple desire for something to satisfy our inner carnivore. You might enjoy a tasty Iced Tea, IPA, APA, or lager with your burger. It doesn't have to be fancy. On the other hand, steak days are days when a burger might suffice, but a thick, juicy ribeye, NY strip, filet mignon, or t-bone is what you really crave. Steak days are often more refined and can sometimes require attention to the whole meal. This brings up an important caveat — sides! A good steak can have any number of sides that will enhance the experience. Will it be a baked potato, sweet potato, mashed potato, steamed broccoli, sauteed asparagus, or brussels sprouts? A side salad is a nice touch. You might even have a glass of red wine to complement your craving. Wine connoisseurs might suggest a specific selection based on your cut. There are numerous options but some of the common examples are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, and Red Blends. There are also numerous regional options to consider from all over the world. However, there's nothing wrong with having a simple steak night. A medium-rare grass-fed steak doesn't need much in the way of flavor enhancements to satisfy.
The magical thing about good food is that when you start with the best ingredients — like 100% grass-fed beef, lamb, and bison, pasture-raised pork and poultry, or wild-caught seafood — it doesn't take gourmet preparation to pull off a magnificent meal. As summer grilling heats up, we hope you are able to satisfy all of your carnivorous cravings with the finest meats from US Wellness.
All the Best, Team USWM

Ancient Europe's Forgotten "Superfood"
By Dr. Sears
If you’re a regular reader, you know that modern diets just don’t compare to the wholesome, nutrient-packed foods our ancestors enjoyed. Especially the artificial, starch-heavy Western diet. Packaged sugars, lab-grown fats, hormones…Things that make you feel like you’re full while providing little to no real nutritional value.
