Celebrate Mom!
We are celebrating Mother's Day today. This festive occasion has become a popular holiday intended to celebrate mothers for all that they do to sacrifice for, and nurture their children. Nurturing is a multi-faceted responsibility. If you look it up in the dictionary, you see that it involves training and upbringing, as well as influencing behavior and traits, and nourishment. Each of those elements are challenging to oversee individually, but mother's are special because they are singularly equipped to offer love and affection, discipline and direction, and nourishment. This probably helps to explain the bond between mother and child. With regard to nourishment, mother's milk could be classified as a superfood. It contains all of the nutrients babies need to thrive including fats, minerals, vitamins, proteins, and carbohydrates. Mother's milk also provides specific antibodies for a baby to fight off illness. The term "Amazing" probably doesn't capture the full extent of this ability.
Of course mothers nourish us throughout our childhood, making sure we are eating a well-balanced diet. Today, that's not as easy as it once was as so much of the food we consume has depleted nutrient density. Fruits and veggies today are lacking in vitamins and minerals compared to just 60 years ago, sometimes by nearly 400%. That's significant! Soil depletion plays a huge role in this loss of the nutritional value of food. Meat in grocery stores from commercial suppliers suffers from the same problem. When animals are raised on grains, feed, or in feedlots, they are not nearly as healthy as a grass-fed, grass-finished animal. It's impossible for an animal to pass along nutrition to the consumer when they don't have it to pass along. This is crucial for parents when choosing food for their older children and also for the mother who needs to stay healthy for her babies. Quality protein is essential for growing children. Protein supplies the necessary components of tissue growth and repair, muscle development, and so much more. We hear from mamas who are using our Liverwurst pureed with selected veggies as babies first solid foods.
The importance of good nutrition is why US Wellness farms spend so much time and energy on regenerative agricultural practices. Nutrition starts in the soil and our farms have been guided by this principle for over 25 years.
Happy Mother's Day! We hope you take this opportunity to celebrate mom and do a little extra to take care of her today.
All the Best, Team USWM

"Moon" Rock Fights Diabetes
By Dr. Sears
(15% OFF Storewide Discount Code)
Each day, about 4,000 people in America get the bad news: “You have diabetes.” That’s 1.5 million new cases diagnosed every year. It’s a staggering number that shows no signs of slowing down. Every new case is the beginning of a long and difficult journey that begins with a doctor’s prescription for a Big Pharma diabetes drug. Patients pay dearly for these drugs…with their pocketbook and with their wellness.
